STEREO MCS

The Stereo MCs are often seen as the godfathers of the UK Hip Hop scene. Originally hailing from Nottinghamshire, Rob Birch & Nick Hallam released their first album “33/45/78″ on their own Gee Street label. Their follow up album, “Supernatural” was recorded in the US and saw them become closely involved with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. In 1992, the release of the album “Connected” saw the band reach new heights, selling over 1 Million copies and winning two Brit Awards! This led to a two year tour for the album and opened up opportunities to remix artists such as U2, which also led to a support slot with the Irish band.

The next album “Deep Down & Dirty” came in 2001 and was well received, but had taken the band a long time to create and the landscape of the music industry had changed considerably. The labels they had worked with in the past no longer seemed suitable partners, so Nick & Rob set up Graffiti Recordings – a new label to release their music.

In 2005 Graffiti Recordings released “Paradise” and followed this up with a more electronic influenced “Double Bubble” in 2008. The third album from Graffiti Recordings is set for release later in 2011, and is being described by some as their strongest album yet.

ASongs are delighted to be involved with these British icons and is exclusively publishing the three albums released on Graffiti Recordings. Check out their brand new website for some tracks from the new album, and some great promo videos too!
